24th of July and Hiking

On the 23rd of July we went to the Bountiful Parade for a little bit but if you notice in the second picture, Jaxson doesn't do well in heat, so we ended up watching the rest of the parade from El Matador.

On the 24th of July we had my family come for a bbq and playing water games in the back yard. It was a lot of fun. We didn't get pictures of water ballon volleyball though, which was on of the highlights of the day.

When Jon's mom was here she invited us to go on a hike with her and Hillary's family to Donut Falls, which is in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Jaxson did pretty good for his first hike. It was also Valerie's, at 4 or 5 weeks old.

Jaxson loved throwing rocks in the creek. He loved it so much, he wouldn't hike back down the mountain. He threw a fit the whole way to the car. Sooo the way up was great, made me want to go hiking more, but then on the way down, I was ready to start crying myself.

This is Abby on her Birthday. She was given Hannah Montana jewelry and stuff to dress up in. I think she looks pretty awesome. She turned 5 years old on July 29th.

Tweety

My friend, Kim, wrote in her blog about how her kids had a funeral for a bird that had died by there house. There is a link on the side to her blog--Way cute pictures of her kids and their special ceremony.

Anyway that got me remembering my pet Tweety. We had it for a few years and one Sunday my brother, Clark, came down the hall crying hysterically. That when he broke the news that Tweety had flown in between the bars of her cage and got lodged in it and died. So, my mom found a shoe box and we had a wonderful funeral. My dad found an awesome flat, big rock, that served as a tombstone....which later my uncle took and is now the center piece of there handmade waterfall.

A few years later, I think I was about 7 or 8 and my friend, Rachel and I were playing in the backyard and I showed her Tweety's grave. Somehow I got the idea that my friend needed to see Tweety. I started digging and decided to go get a shovel, when my brother, Jeff asked what I was doing. THANK GOODNESS he found out and stopped me. Could you imagine? I don't know what in the world I was thinking!!! May Tweety rest in peace.
